ELA SUPERVISION

As a former teacher of English (upper elementary) and an elementary principal, I believe strongly in the importance of early and sustained literacy. As Dewey states, "Language is the instrument of communication between human beings; part of the work of the school is to help to perfect that medium." I take this to mean that children should learn lingual skills in order to participate in a world of communication. Therefore, literacy should be about expressing and understanding thoughts and opinions from as early as PreK.
